Kraken is a US-based cryptocurrency exchange founded in 2011 and one of the longest continuously operating venues in the market. It runs a published Proof of Reserves programme that uses Merkle-tree attestation of client balances rather than a public list of wallet addresses. Kraken was also one of the exchanges used to route Mt. Gox creditor distributions from 2024 onward. It is a terminal hub in the transaction graph.
