Eight legacy addresses each received roughly 10,000 BTC in April and May 2011 and then recorded no outgoing transaction for more than fourteen years. Beginning 4 July 2025 all eight were emptied, first into modern bech32 addresses and then onward to trading desks, with the final tranche reaching Galaxy Digital on 18 July 2025. On 25 July 2025 Galaxy announced it had executed the sale of more than 80,000 BTC for a client it described only as a Satoshi-era investor, stating the transaction was part of that investor's broader estate planning strategy. The owner has never been publicly identified.

What is and is not established. Attribution of these eight addresses to the Galaxy Digital sale is drawn by on-chain analysts and press reporting; Galaxy's own press release names no addresses and no client. CryptoQuant's Ki Young Ju publicly suggested the coins traced to the collapsed 2011 exchange MyBitcoin and speculated about a named operator; that is an unverified third-party claim with no court record or self-disclosure behind it, so no personal name is attached here. Arkham's initial reading of the 4 July movement as a security upgrade rather than a sale was overtaken by the later transfers. The address list was taken from bitcoin.fr's 'Les adresses d'origine' listing; each of the eight was independently checked on mempool.space on 6 August 2026, where each shows approximately 10,000 BTC received and a zero balance. IMPORTANT FOR NOTIFY-ME: this entity is no longer dormant as of 6 August 2026 — it woke in July 2025 and the coins have been sold.
